stamp supplies for CT LBer's

From: JBean (jbean64@sbcglobal.net) | Date: 2004-09-20 13:27:57 UTC-04:00
I am trying to locate carving supplies locally, still thinking about having a go at carving myself. I tried carving a simple design on an eraser, with my husband's carving knife, but realized I definitely need lino carvers. I live in the Middletown area, and would have gone to Color Mart, but they closed last year. Was at AC Moore in Plainville yesterday and couldn't find anyone who knew what I was talking about. SO! Where or where do you find supplies locally!!!!????

I get my Mastercarve and cutting tools from Jerry's Artarama in West Hartford
(its in the block printing section. Don't ask for the letterboxing
section... they have NO idea what that is!), or the Stamp Studio in Manchester. The
Lily Pad in Willimantic and I believe the Great American Stamp Store in Norwalk
also have supplies.

I know quite a few people who get Dick Blick's grey carving medium and
cutting tools from their website. www.dickblick.com (?)

Not sure what area of the state you live in, but there's a store in Cromwell
called Simply Stamps. They're listed in the book. :)

Hi
Jerry's Art-O-Rama in West Hartford has Speedball supplies AND Mastercarve in 3 sizes! (Be still my heart). JoAnn ETC. Also has 1 size of Mastercarve, and a set of carvers (not Speedball, but looks similar). Not bad considering there's always a coupon running. Michael's has sheets of Speedy-Cut and lots of Exacto's. Again... coupon! Hope this helps. MayEve

I was chasing down some of the "pink stuff" to make
some new stamps at our local AC Moore over the
weekend. After searching with two store employees, we
spoke with the manager, who said that they aren't
carrying the "linoleum supplies" (apparently that's
what they classify the Speedball materials as)
anymore.

I'm not sure if that's just our local store, or all AC
Moores in general, but it may be worth checking out
and saving yourself a trip if they don't carry it.

But at least there was a happy ending ... I hopped in
my car and drove down the street to Michaels where
they still had some :)

May Eve... which Jo Ann's and Michael's do you go to? The ones here in
Manchester don't have any Mastercarve or SpeedyCut?

Manchester is the only ones I go to! At Michaels, the Speedy-Cut is in the far back right corner mixed in with the oil paint supplies - go figure. At JoAnns, The MasterCarve is also in the back right of the store in the stamp aisle or one past. Just as you turn into the aisle, it's on the left side. MayEve
